About Samburu
Samburu National Reserve is Kenya's wild north — a remote, rugged landscape of dry riverbeds, doum palms, and dramatic rocky hills cut through by the Ewaso Ng'iro River. It is the only place in Kenya where you can spot the 'Samburu Special Five': reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, gerenuk, and Somali ostrich — species found nowhere else in the country. Leopards are remarkably common here, often seen lazing in riverine trees. Combined with visits to the Samburu people — cousins of the Maasai — this is an authentic, off-the-beaten-path safari experience that leaves a lasting impression.
